The Old Royal Naval College

  • A UNESCO World heritage site.
  • Designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
  • Built between 1696 and 1712.
  • Previously, the 'Palace of Greenwich' which was built in 1428 for King Henry the 8th stood on this site.
  • Buildings used as Royal Navy training centre between 1873 and 1998.
  • Admiral Nelson laid in state here in 1805.
  • Operational nuclear reactor housed on site 1962 - 1999!
  • Site now shared between the University of Greenwich and Trinity School of Music.

Maritime Greenwich

  • World heritage site.
  • Henry VIII born here.
  • Elizabeth I summer residence.
  • The Design of the White House in US based on the Queens House in Greenwich.
  • The Royal Observatory, built in 1675, marks the prime meridian.
